Translated lyrics
The candle light is dimmed by the moonlight Your hair spills on the pillow, In the window a treetop blooms Quiet has returned. We see by your smile. The storm raged, And it has passed, And your face again touches the sea's skies. With the added light we go on, The road is long and the trip not ended. chorus Our road is not easy, And your eyes are sometimes sad, We still have flowering fields ahead of us, Still high mountains, And chilly summits (x2) Splinters of light in your tears, And a smile feels its way towards me, All good is still ahead of you, Put your head on my shoulder Put your hand in mine. Very soon the candle will no longer flower, Soon the blessed quiet will be defeated, The day's bustle will bloom, YOu will not go alone, I'll be there with you. Our road is not easy, And your eyes are sometimes sad, We still have flowering fields ahead of us, Still high mountains, And chilly summits.
Notes
This is a beautiful song. "There was a storm, and it has passed, And your face is again as calm as the surface of the sea." isn't it "With the light we will continue to go on," and not "with the added light we will go on"? "The road is long and the journey not simple." "And your eyes are sometimes so touching." (isn't it ko nog'ot?) -------------------------------------------------------- MY COMMENTS: I have put a translation of Darkeinu on www.hebrewsongs.com/d.htm, which is a little different from this one and more correct. There are many mistakes here. First of all, the title is "Darkenu" or "Darkeinu", not Darknu. It's Hebrew, not English, and should be listed as Israeli-Contemporary. Rather than repeating my translation here, please go to www.hebrewsongs.com/d.htm, where you can also see the Hebrew text. The song comes from the soundtrack of an Israeli TV show, Haburganim, and is sung by Sarit Vino-Elad and Chani Firstenberg. There's a CD of the soundtrack. - Malka Yes, it is "with the light we will continue to go on" "And the road is long; the journey is not yet over." "ko nog'ot" means so sad - v'einayich lif'amim ko nog'ot - "And your eyes are sometimes so sad"
