Avinu Malkeinu Max Janowski Hebrew
Avinu Malkeynu English The lyrics of this beautiful High Holidays prayer are here as sung by Barbara Streisand. "Sung during Rosh Ha' Shanah (the Jewish New Year), "Avinu Malkeinu" ("Our Father, Our King") is a supplication to God to treat us with kindness and generosity, even when we haven't always lived up to His ideals for us. The melody I sing here is so beautiful, surely the hand of God touched the composer." More at thissite:

Gam Gam Joseph Brody clap clap Hebrew Of course this song is based on Psalm XXIII It has become quite famous in Italy (also with a Disco-remix!) after a Roberto Faenza's movie.."Jona che visse nel ventre della balena" (Jona who lived in the belly of the whale). The plot of the movie is based on the autobiographical novel "Childhood years" by the Dutch writer Jona Obersky. It has been the first time (after the case of HAVA NAGILA) that a Hebrew song has become really famous among the genral populatiion in Italy. Some neo-fascist antisemitical groups in Rome have used this song (changing the words) to mock the Jews during Soccer Games. Gam Gam is also the name of a Kosher Restaurant run by a Lubavitcher Comgregation in the old ex-ghetto of Venice. In the Faenza's movie Jewish children sang this song in a school in Amsterdam. The version of the movie has been sung by a French Jewish Cildren Choir.."Les Chivatim".

Kol Nidrey Neil Diamond Neil Diamond Hebrew Aramaic declaration, meaning "All vows", with which the evening service of Yom Kippur begins. Originally the text read to nullify vows that were not fulfilled during the previous year. Was revised by Rabbaynu Tam and others in 12th century medieval Europe to refer to vows that will be made in the future. Source: The Encyclopedia of Jewish Prayer. All Jewish sources and interpretations of Kol Nidrei agree that the formula covers only vows between the individual and G-d. -Reuven [email protected] I think I remember hearing a version of Kol Nidrey on Neil Diamond's albums. Actually, he sang the beginning words of the song in "The Jazz Singer."
